Activity and Eating: Small Steps to a Healthier You
This eight-page booklet provides adults with an understanding
of the essential connection between physical activity and balanced
food choices for long-term good health. The booklet uses a behavior
change model that translates information into positive
attitudes and eating behaviors.
The content is based on the 2010
Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as depicted in the MyPlate icon.
Information is provided about shopping for and preparing
balanced meals with foods rich in nutrients from the full
range of food groups. Sections on portion sizes, label reading
and a food diary equip users to put information about healthy
eating into practice.
The benefits of daily physical activity and ideas for overcoming
barriers to meeting recommended levels of activity are addressed.
Individuals are supported in defining specific eating and physical
activity goals for themselves.
